이 프로젝트는 콤팩트한 규모의 서점, 'Plotbooks'를 위한 가구 및 공간 디자인 작업입니다. 물리적으로 한정된 면적 안에서 서점의 복합적인 기능들을 수용하기 위해, 가구를 건축화된 시스템으로 해석하여 공간의 성격을 규정하고자 했습니다.

그리드와 사선: 협소함을 극복하는 질서
작은 공간일수록 명확한 질서가 필요합니다. 우리는 공간 전체를 관통하는 보이지 않는 그리드(Grid)를 설정하고, 그 위에 사선의 각도를 부여하여 서가의 동선을 유도했습니다. 직각으로만 떨어지는 획일적인 배치에서 벗어나 의도적으로 틀어진 각도를 통해 방문객의 시선을 환기시키고, 제한된 공간 속에서도 다채로운 깊이감과 켜(Layer)를 느낄 수 있도록 구성했습니다.

독립된 객체로서의 가구
일반적으로 상업 공간의 가구는 벽면에 귀속된 붙박이(Built-in) 형태를 띱니다. 그러나 Plotbooks의 가구들은 벽에서 완벽히 떨어져 스스로 자립하는 독립적인 객체로 설계되었습니다.
이는 가구가 공간에 종속된 고정물이 아니라, 다가올 미래의 변화와 이동을 예비하는 유동적 시스템임을 의미합니다. 큐레이션의 방향이나 이벤트의 성격에 따라 가구의 배치는 언제든 새롭게 재조립될 수 있으며, 이를 통해 공간은 단일한 목적을 넘어 지속적인 변주를 이뤄냅니다.

18t 무절 미송합판과 과감한 색채의 대비
사용자의 신체와 책이 직접 닿는 부분에는 18t 무절 미송합판을 주재료로 사용했습니다. 옹이가 없는 무절 합판 특유의 정갈하고 따뜻한 질감은 서점이라는 공간이 가져야 할 촉각적 편안함을 제공합니다.
반면, 베이스가 되는 공간의 면(Face)에는 과감한 컬러를 덧입혀 극적인 시각적 대비를 유도했습니다. 나무의 자연스러운 물성과 강렬한 색채의 병치는 Plotbooks만의 경쾌하고 뚜렷한 브랜드 아이덴티티를 완성하는 핵심적인 건축 어휘입니다.

Furniture as a Fluid System
This project is a space and furniture design for a compact independent bookstore, 'Plotbooks'. To accommodate complex functions within a limited footprint, we interpreted furniture as an architectural system that defines the character of the space.
Grids and Angles: To overcome the narrowness, we established an invisible grid across the space and applied angled orientations to guide circulation. These intentional angles break the monotony of orthogonal layouts, creating visual depth and dynamic layers.
Independent Objects: Defying the convention of wall-mounted built-ins, the furniture in Plotbooks is entirely detached from the walls. They are designed as independent objects anticipating future mobility and reconfiguration, meaning the furniture is never a fixed entity.
Material & Color Contrast: We used 18t clear pine plywood as the primary material for all surfaces that hands and books touch, providing a clean, warm tactility. This natural texture is juxtaposed with bold background colors, creating a striking visual identity unique to Plotbooks.
