Exhibition Media Art: Brush as an Oar
"전통 서예와 디지털 미디어 아트의 만남"
본 작업은 두 서예 작가의 대표작을 컴퓨터 시각 예술과 융합시킨 미디어 아트 프로젝트다.
현대미술이 범람하는 동시대 예술계에서 서예는 점차 비주류 장르로 인식되고 있다. 이 작업은 매스 컬쳐(Mass Culture)가 대중의 이목을 집중시키는 방식에서 착안하여, 서예라는 전통적 소재에 디지털 기술을 접목한 새로운 형태의 협업을 시도했다.
디지털 문화에 익숙한 지금 세대에게 서예가 조금 더 새롭고 감각적으로 다가가는 계기를 마련하고자 했다. 물론 새로운 방식의 도입만이 유일한 해결책은 아니다. 그러나 예술의 수용과 소비라는 측면에서, 전자매체를 이용한 전시 방식이 시장성을 확보하고 서예 예술 감상 활성화에 새로운 동력이 되기를 기대한다.
"The Convergence of Traditional Calligraphy and Digital Media Art"
This project fuses representative works of two calligraphy artists with computer visual arts. In an era flooded with contemporary art, traditional calligraphy has increasingly become a peripheral genre. Inspired by how mass culture commands public attention, this collaboration attempts to graft digital technology onto traditional calligraphy.
We aimed to present calligraphy in a fresh and sensory way to the current generation familiar with digital culture. While introducing new methods is not the sole solution, we hope that exhibition formats utilizing electronic media will enhance marketability in terms of art consumption and serve as a catalyst for revitalizing the appreciation of calligraphy.
