Main Exhibition Video: Unbuilt Daegu
특별기획전 「언빌트 대구(Unbuilt Daegu, 2010-2025)」
이 전시는 대구라는 도시 위에 상상력을 정착시키기 위해 분투했던 치열한 전선(Front line)의 기록이다. "역사의 결을 거슬러 솔질하기"라는 발터 벤야민(Walter Benjamin)의 언명처럼, 본 전시는 승자의 관점에서 전승된 역사를 거부한다. 대신 실패하고, 억압받고, 잊혀진 것들에 주목하여 현재의 조각들을 발굴하는 것을 과제로 삼았다.
구체적으로는 대구 지역 건축가들의 '선택받지 못한 작업'들을 복기한다. 낙선한 출품작들이 실현되어 존재하는 또 다른 차원의 대구를 상상하며, 시적 허용을 통해 그 가능성을 디뎌본다. 이를 통해 우리는 간과되어 사장되었으나 다시금 생각해 볼 가치가 있는 도시의 잠재력을 발굴하게 될 것이다. 전시에 포함된 그림, 도면, 영상, 음악은 존재와 비존재의 경계선상에서 춤추는 현실과 꿈의 파편들이다. 관람자는 이를 통해 주체적인 상상력을 발휘하며 공론의 장에서 만나게 될 것이다.
Special Exhibition: Unbuilt Daegu (2010-2025)
This exhibition documents the struggles to anchor imagination within the city of Daegu. Echoing Walter Benjamin's call to "brush history against the grain," this exhibition refuses history transmitted by victors, focusing instead on the failed, suppressed, and forgotten to reconstruct the present.
Specifically, it reviews the 'unselected works' of local architects, imagining a parallel Daegu where these rejected proposals exist. Through this, we aim to unearth values that were overlooked and encourage citizens to meet in the public sphere with autonomous imagination. The drawings, plans, videos, and music included in the exhibition are fragments of reality and dreams dancing on the line between existence and non-existence.
